Daiji Dubai is a forum of
Konkanni writers residing in the United ArabEmirates. We are
currently more than two dozen in number and meet once a month to
share our literary experiences. There is only membership without
hierarchy so that all feel equal. Ours is only a forum and not an
association. Hence we do not have a running fund and a bank
account. We came together as we believed knowledge and skills can
be enriched by sharing. We also believed that united we can serve
better the cause of our mother tongue Konkanni. Any language will
survive only if it is spoken and written by a people; otherwise it
will disappear from the face of the earth. Language is an expression
of mind. If all peoples of this earth are equal, then all languages
are also equal. Unfortunately this truth has not been learnt by some
of our Konkanni people and there are many who shy away from their
mother tongue. We have run after foreign cultures and languages
abandoning our own. Our aim is to bring this awakening among our
people. We shall encourage them to speak their mother tongue and
support Konkanni literature. We will succeed only with your support
